StorageConnect offers remote replication, backup, and recovery In an effort to better enable its U.S. customers to be more proactive in their backup and recovery plans, AT&T announced new additions to its business continuity line on Wednesday.The Bedminster, N.J.-based company unveiled its StorageConnect service, a network remote replication, backup and recovery offering. StorageConnect is a fully managed, multilocation storage transport service that allows clients to extend remote replication, backup and multivendor SAN (storage area network) products between different locations and/or AT&T Internet Data Centers (IDCs) over any distance, the company said.The service also offers bandwidth choices from 10Mbps to 1Gbps and also supports Fibre Channel, Enterprise System Connection (ESCON) and Fibre Connectivity (FICON) storage network protocols. The company also announced Direct Control for hosting customers. AT&T Direct Control enables clients to remotely and securely access their servers located in AT&T’s U.S.-based IDCs via a Web browser. Clients can set alarm and warning notifications, view and receive real-time alarm notification and access real-time status of all monitored elements, the company explained during a teleconference.Customers can also conduct real-time system administration actions including server reboots, software uploads via FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and log file retrieval.
