Smaller businesses eyed

SCO this week outlined its SCOx strategy for providing Web services to small and midsize businesses and branch offices. Through specifications such as SOAP and UDDI, SCO and its partners will deliver Web services-enabled applications and SCO’sUnix and Linux operating systems will be updated to better enable Web services, according to the company. SCOx will allow customers to implement SCO solutions in an on-premise environment or access applications and services online. Web services-enabled applications can be integrated via SCOx including Microsoft .Net and Sun ONE J2EE applications. SCOx customers can share information between traditional applications and e-business services. SCO, based in Lindon, Utah, can host SCOx-enabled applications for its partners. SCO plans to showcase some of the first applications for the SCOx framework at the SCO Forum conference in Las Vegas this August.
