New company dubbed Arcadyan Technology Royal Philips Electronics and Accton Technology are forming a joint venture that will sell wireless products to Internet service providers, consumer electronics makers, and the PC and mobile phone industries, the companies said Monday.The new company, dubbed Arcadyan Technology, hope to build on Philips’ strength in audio/video and electronics equipment and Accton’s experience providing outsourced communications products, the companies said. Both companies will tap into their customer bases as markets for the new wireless products, a Philips representative said.Arcadyan will provide products based on Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth, and other industry standards. The new venture will employ more than 200 people and have headquarters in Hsinchu, Taiwan, and offices in San Jose, Calif.; Tokyo; Shanghai; and Bangalore, the representative said.Although Arcadyan’s full product line has yet to be announced, the companies said that it already offers access points and gateways, such as the Powerline Communication 802.11 bridge, and consumer applications such as the Home Wireless A/V Platform, in addition to Bluetooth and audio products.
