OASIS ON WEDNESDAY formed a series of XML.org Focus Areas for the purpose of providing domain-specific content on XML standards. The Focus Areas are intended to enable easy tracking of XML standards efforts in specific areas of interest. Focus Areas were formed for Insurance (http://insurance.xml.org), Human Resources (http://hr.xml.org), and Printing & Publishing (http://publishing.xml.org). Each Focus Area covers news, standards and initiatives, vendors, consortia, trade associations, government agencies and implementers, events, and resources germane to a specific domain. New Focus Areas for other horizontal industries will be introduced periodically, according to OASIS. Future Focus Areas will include financial services, defense logistics, education, tax/accounting, e-government, security, retail, localization and globalization, e-marketplaces, and others.
