Use emoticons on your iPad or iPad mini

Here’s how you can add the emoji keyboard to your iPad or iPad mini. This will let you use emoticons.

1. Go to Settings.

2. Go to General.

3. Go to Keyboard.

4. Go to International Keyboards.

5. Go to Add New Keyboard.

6. Add the Emoji keyboard.
