Check out my top 10 list of posts on disruption and management

Over the last two years of blogging at InfoWorld, I’ve covered a range of topics related to open source: new products, partnerships, business models, and more.  The stories that I’m most proud of are the ones on management and disruption.  But unless you know what keywords to search on, it’s hard to find some of these posts as they have been spread out over many months.  So with that in mind, I’ve pulled together in one place my own “top 10” list of posts on these topics.

Building a business on open source is not an easy proposition.  You need to have a good product, a significant community, and a way to make money.  Once you’ve got all that, you still need to have strong management to navigate through choppy waters.  And if your product is disruptive, that gives you additional leverage to build your business in a fashion that is hard for existing players to do what you’re doing.

Maybe it’s not a surprise, but in Silicon Valley, there’s a lot of emphasis on building cool technologies and not enough on management and disruption. So here’s my picks to help with the balance.  I hope you’ll find having these stories all in one place to be a useful resource.

There are pearls of wisdom in each one of these stories that can help you as a technology manager or entrepreneur to bring out the best in your business.  Enjoy!  And let me know if you like this kind of “best of ” compendium.  Maybe other bloggers at InfoWorld can do something similar on other topics.
