Google and Force.com are among sponsors of the event next month

Cloudstock, a technical conference dubbed “The Woodstock for Cloud Developers,” is being held next month with backing from cloud computing players including Google, Force.com, and Amazon Web Services.

The free event will be hosted on December 6 in San Francisco. “Cloudstock is an entirely new event designed for one purpose: To bring the top cloud developers and the top cloud technologies together under one roof, to learn from each other, collaborate, innovate, and drive the future of cloud computing,” the Cloudstock Web page says.

In addition to sessions and demos, the conference will feature “The Cloudstock Hackathon,” in which developers will pit coding skills against each other and build solutions that bridge clouds.

At the event, Google will be presenting on the company’s cloud platform technologies and selling cloud applications in the Google Apps Marketplace, said Ryan Boyd, of Google Developer Team, in a blog post. “Google is a strong believer in the open technologies powering the Web, such as HTML5. Cloud computing is about powering innovations on the Web with platforms and services that make developers like you more efficient and allow you to concentrate on solving business problems.”

Other companies partnering on the event include Adobe, PayPal, VMware, and Yahoo Developer Network. The list of sessions features a presentation by Adobe on its Flex and Flash platform on the cloud; Amazon will discuss cloud computing using PHP. VMware will discuss its VMforce platform -as-a-service technology.

Absent from the list of Cloudstock partners, though, is Microsoft, which continues to promote its Windows Azure cloud platform and newly announced Office 365 cloud applications.

Registration for the event can be done at this Cloudstock sign-up page.
