Microsoft's latest advertising misfire: A fake buyer seeking a cheap PC It’s always fun to watch Microsoft’s marketing folks get caught in their own exaggerations. It turns out that the attractive young woman who finds out that “I’m not cool enough to be a Mac person” is a professional actress, not just a wannabe computer buyer.Normally, that would mean nothing. But Microsoft claimed that her search for an affordable PC as chronicled in the company’s new ad campaign was genuine. It turns out that the so-called buyer is really an actress named Lauren De Long, with a rather extensive résumé in film, theater, and television. It’s possible that the actress just happened to need a new computer, but I doubt it. Interestingly, links to other sites she hosts no longer work. Draw your own conclusion. Technology Industry
