Why must we make life harder for ourselves? If five companies can make a widget that works with five other companies’ products, like a DVD player from Sony on a Zenith TV, why can’t home networking vendors figure out that they’d make life easier for a whole bunch of people if they’d stick to a constant internal network numbering scheme? Across vendors, they’re usually in the same major net, but this is really unfortunate. I bet there are 10,000 people in the US right now who are trying to VPN to their office and print to the printer plugged into their home broadband router/printservers and not having any luck since a portion of the tunnel and their home net are both 192.168.1.0/24. Note: This number will grow.
