As a fitting posting for April 1, here’s a video that I put together to commemorate Marten Mickos, CEO of MySQL who is leaving Sun today. It was my pleasure to work with Marten for more than five years at MySQL. He was truly a unique CEO; he followed Drucker’s rules and came up with new innovative ideas that we put into action. He was also not afraid to make the tough business decisions that come with being CEO.I originally prepared this video to be shown at Marten’s going-away party since I was out of town with the OSGR meeting in Utah. So be warned, there’s a bit of “inside baseball” here.Thanks to all those folks at OSBC that I was able to get on camera wearing dolphin noses.
