Judge overturns Oracle’s $1.3 billion judgment against SAP

The original judgment came as a result of the TomorrowNow case, where the SAP unit was accused of stealing Oracle's secrets

A federal judge today overturned the $1.3 billion judgment Oracle won against SAP in its corporate theft trial.

SAP had admitted liability for actions taken by a former subsidiary, TomorrowNow, that provided lower-cost support for Oracle applications, but decried the jury’s award as far too large.

Judge Phyllis Hamilton also today approved SAP’s request that Oracle accept a lower award, which would negate the need for a new trial.
