Real-time virtualization software company, Jaluna, Inc., has completed a re-branding of its corporate identity and announced an extensive change to its product strategy.

The company’s new name, VirtualLogix, hopes to better reflect the company’s position in the real-time virtualization market. VirtualLogix hopes that this re-branding will continue to drive the company’s next phase of growth and market opportunity.

In addition to changing the company name, VirtualLogix also announced that it was expanding its technology offering into three vertical market solutions. Doing so, it hopes to better align and communicate the company’s products and business value within the key market segments. The three market solutions are:

  • VLX for Digital Multimedia – a high-performance, real-time virtualization software platform for embedded devices based on TI’s DSP. It is designed for products that require both the real-time signal processing capabilities of TI/DSP BIOS and features of standard Linux without the need for an additional application processor. This is ideal for devices such as IP set-top boxes, video phones, video surveillance and other low-cost video devices and telecom equipment.
  • VLX for Network Infrastructure – allows network infrastructure companies to easily and rapidly migrate from Intel’s single-core to multi-core processors. It enables multiple operating systems to run unmodified on the Intel Core Architecture and lowers bill of material through hardware consolidation.
  • VLX for Mobile Handsets – allows handset manufacturers and wireless operators to deliver more reliable, lower-cost mobile handsets with advanced security features and services to the mass market. The secure and fault tolerant software architecture protects core phone services from potential corruptions in an open OS, such as Linux.

“Our customers are looking for market-specific, scalable solutions that help accelerate their transition to next generation hardware and software platforms,” said Peter Richards, chief executive officer at VirtualLogix. “VirtualLogix responded by developing vertical market product solutions that are aligned with our customers’ on-going business needs. With proven leadership in real-time virtualization, the new corporate position clearly defines our commitment to delivering world-class virtualization software that enables customers to continuously derive benefits from the use of our products.”
