Jamaica's Usain Bolt wins 3 gold medals in track & field and then does something even more impressive For those who have not been totally engrossed in the Beijing Olympics, I wanted to highlight a story of Olympic spirit. Michael Phelps dominated a lot of the press coverage in the first week for setting a new record of 8 gold medals in swimming in a single year. In the second week, Usain Bolt from Jamaica has scored an impressive feat of 3 gold medals in track & field. All three events (100m, 200m, 4x100m relay) were world records. Bolt is the first man since Carl Lewis in 1984 to win 3 gold medal events in track, and the first man to ever set three world records. His speed in the 100m race was 9.69 seconds –despite the fact that he slowed down for the last 20 meters and was accused of “donated $50k to the Chinese Red Cross Sichuan earthquake relief fund. Now that’s a class act. Open Source
