VMware is expected to announce its Q2 financials and business outlook on a conference call July 22. How will the stock market react after the announcement?

While financial calls aren’t usually the most interesting announcements to participate in, I must admit, this quarter’s financial update for VMware does have me waiting in anticipation. In addition to the review of their financials, the company is also expected to discuss its business outlook.

VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, plans to announce second quarter financial results after market close on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. The company will host a conference call at 2:00 p.m. PT/ 5:00 p.m. ET that day to review quarterly results and business outlook. A live web broadcast of the event will be available on the VMware Investor Relations website at http://ir.vmware.com. The replay of the webcast will be available for one month.

Too many things have just taken place: Diane Greene leaving and being replaced with a new CEO with a Microsoft background, Microsoft launching Hyper-V, the tumbling stock price, and now the company raising prices by 10% across EMEA and ANZ.

The stock market has already negatively moved because of these factors, so how will the market react when the financials are finally revealed? What will be the role for new CEO Paul Maritz on this call? And depending on how bad the numbers really are, can VMware paint a positive picture with their business outlook?

If you miss the call on July 22, VMware said they would replay the webcast afterward for a month. Stay tuned!
