Sun Microsystems expands its strategic alliance with Tek-Tools Software and will sell its partners software alongside its Sun Common Array Manager software, which is used to manage Sun's storage arrays. Dallas based IT resource management software firm Tek-Tools Software announced that the firm has inked an expanded strategic alliance with Sun Microsystems.According to Tek-Tools, the combination of Sun’s Common Array Manager (CAM) and Tek-Tools’ Profiler Suite will provide extensibility to Sun customers for unified reporting, monitoring, forecasting, and notification across the entire physical or virtual infrastructure.Bob Handlin, a Senior Product Manager in Sun’s storage software group said, “Tek-Tools has a proven track record of adding value to the Sun storage line and customers will benefit from new storage reporting solutions for the Sun midrange and legacy array product lines.” The joint solution offering between Sun and Tek-Tools enables advanced storage reporting, data visualization, performance and capacity management, forecasting and predictive analysis. Through this joint venture, Tek-Tools hopes to deliver value to Sun customers with accurate, reliable, and easy access to information about their IT infrastructures so that they can make informed business decisions that lead to optimization, efficiency, and cost savings.Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.
