A planned upgrade to the Ruby on Rails open source Web framework will be the focus of a presentation Friday morning by David Heinemeier Hansson, creator of the framework, at the RailsConf 2007 event in Portland.

Ruby on Rails 2 will center on capabilities such as REST (Representational State Transfer) and making better use of HTTP, Heinemeier Hansson said.

“The big story in Rails 2 is our focus on REST,” Heinemeier Hansson said on Thursday evening.

The currently available version of Ruby on Rails is version 1.2.3.
