Jay at Dumb Little Man has a post on leaving work at work that I really resonated with. Before I had kids I wasn’t very good at this, which mostly worked out family-wise because my wife was in med school so it was mostly just me.But it did not work out creativity-wise. As we’ve already talked about, a great way to supercharge your unconscious and get it solving those really hard problems is to do something other than work. And do it enthusiastically. Jay’s post is about balancing work and family, but it doesn’t need to be read that way. Look at it as balancing work and life, and do some of the things he suggests. I’ve been doing some of them for a while (like setting aside no work times) and they absolutely work for me. Hat tip to Elizabeth. Careers
