Sybase has not been sitting still when it comes to SOA. They have some interesting technology including data abstraction, as well as services design, development, and implementation. Of course, the database technology is still the crown jewel, but like other big database companies they have rounded out their offering, both through internal creativity and acquisitions.

Besides my talk it was nice to hear user experiences at the conference…what’s working and what’s not. The desire for SOA is there and they are creating SOA strategies now, perhaps implementing a project or two.

Nice time in Dublin California. Nice time to escape the high winds of Virginia this week, and other bad news that makes you question your own mortality. Moreover, empathizes with those who are experiencing a tremendous sense of lose right now.
