Through strategic partnerships with Asus and NEC, Phoenix is going after the consumer notebook market to quickly gain adoption of HyperSpace

Phoenix Technologies recently announced a partnership with motherboard and PC manufacturer, Asus. The company hopes this new partnership will help accelerate adoption of the company’s award-winning HyperSpace product in the consumer market.

Phoenix describes HyperSpace as an instant-on and always-connected application environment that makes operating a mobile PC as easy and efficient as operating a cell phone — a pretty bold statement. And equally bold, the company doesn’t seem to be too fazed by the increased competition coming from the partnership announcement made between Citrix and Intel to develop a client hypervisor.

Based on the new partnership agreement between Asus and Phoenix, Asus will incorporate HyperSpace into its next-generation notebooks. And with these HyperSpace-installed notebooks, users will be able to instantly launch important Web-based applications before Windows ever boots, automatically connect to the best available network, dramatically extend battery life, and achieve new levels of uptime and security protection.

“As the fastest growing notebook brand, we are committed to bringing to market innovative technology solutions that simplify consumers’ lives,” said Henry Yeh, general manager at the Asus Notebook Business Unit. “We are glad to see Phoenix’s PC 3.0 vision is in line with our commitment to our customers. HyperSpace’s easy-to-use, smart, instant-on and longer battery life features will allow Asus to deliver richer, more dynamic products and satisfy our customers’ desire to make mobility a far more elegant and intuitive experience.”

Phoenix appears to be going after the notebook market in order to try and spread its HyperSpace technology. In addition to Asus, the company announced a similar deal with NEC back in July of 2008.
