I installed the Looking Glass 4.0 policy server, Active Agents, and SOAPstation 4.0 across a series of Proliant ML P4 two-way servers running Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition, using the standard Actional configuration, which ships using MySQL, the Jetty HTTP server, and servlet container open sourced by Mort Bay Consulting. Actional uses standard SQL, making it compatible with Oracle and MS databases and third party systems.With the exception of some minor hand-tweaking to the application server, setup of all pieces (including the provisioning of services to be managed by SOAPstation and Active Agents) was either wizard-driven or enhanced by Actional’s step-by-step instructions. The process involved creating general definitions specifying which security model to use, how SOAPstation classified services and monitored criteria, etc.I also brought several outside, unmanaged services into the stream to see how Looking Glass viewed them.
