Survey: We polled members of InfoWorld IT Exec-Connect on what they consider the biggest IT news last year. And the answer is: Web 2.0, according to 36 percent of respondents. Apple’s decision to adopt Intel chips grabbed the second rung with 24 percent of the vote, followed by Microsoft and Oracle efforts to support open source, which garnered 18 percent. Best of the blogs: “The topic of pay scale has smacked me the in the face once again.” So begins Sean McCown in Time to get yours. I’ll just let him continue the rant with this excerpt. “Why does the executive who says we need a data warehouse get a HUGE bonus for coming up with the idea, and the guy who puts it together and makes it work gets almost nothing? Columnist’s corner: Almost ruining his holiday golf game, Oliver Rist realized that it’s not so easy to keep track of all Microsoft’s collaboration platforms. The cast of characters includes: Exchange Server 2007, Office Live, the Groove client, Live Communications Server and Groove Server 2007. Oh, yes, let’s not forget SharePoint.
