The latest buzzword in the burgeoning offspring tracking market may be “sexual predator zone,” according to a press release from CATS Communication Inc. in Irvine, California, which makes CATTRAX, a “location based” child tracking technology for cell phones. According to the release, the GPS enabled phones (Nextel appears to be the only provider to offer them, so far) will issue alerts to parents when a CATTRAX toting child enters a “sexual predator zone.” Parents are notified by text message, email or page when children leave their “designated zone.” It’s not clear how, exactly, “sexual predator zones” are identified, however.
