What gives, Borland?

Well, the September target for Borland to sell off its Developer Tools Group has come and gone and still no sale has been reported.

The company announced in February that it would sell its Delphi and Java tools business so it could focus on the application lifecycle management space. In July, Borland reported it had received inquiries from about a dozen parties and that it hoped to complete the sale by September.

I asked for an update earlier this week and received the usual response that the process continues to move forward. But what about customers spending eight months now not knowing who will be in charge of advancing their developer tools?

Borland’s silence leaves me wondering exactly what is happening here. If there is a buyer, let’s hear from them sooner, not later. We’d also like to hear from Borland tools customers too, about the sale still pending after all these months and how they feel about this situation.
