Security: Taking the virus one step further as a crime vehicle, a new Trojan is on the prowl and it’s chasing ransom. First, it freezes infected machines, then it demands a vig to return control.

Hardware: IBM today announced a mid-market mainframe — an incarnation of its z9 that sells for approximately $100,000. Big Blue puts the z9 Business Class system in a category with Unix servers and powerful x86 clusters, but claims it offers better security, reliability and utilization rates.
