Sun Microsystems is pushing open source software, a series of storage arrays, and a hybrid server-storage platform in an expanded storage lineup to help customers keep pace with the data boom. Security firm Symantec warns of a new Word attack, which involves what appears to be a bug in Microsoft Word that logs keystrokes to steal passwords, but the company is working with Microsoft to confirm its finding and, thus far, reports only limited attacks. Adobe is working on a mashup tool code-named Genesis that, it says, will enable business users to pull together workspaces that combine assets such as business application data, documents, and analytics, along with collaboration tools. Microsoft has said that Windows XP SP3 will become part of Windows Update on Thursday, at which point the service will trigger an automatic download for anyone that has Windows Update on its default setting.
