Even while its chief competitors and the rest of the industry is embracing software-as-a-service, SAP, in the words of Bill Snyder, is “so stuck in the 20th century that its on-demand efforts (along with attempts to reach the small-business market) are pitifully weak.”

In SAP sticks its head in the ground, Snyder continues that, “No, I’m not predicting doom for SAP … SAP unquestionably delivers real value.”

But as customers get evidence that SaaS providers can also deliver real value, at less cost and aggravation, SAP might find that they will indeed replace traditional business applications.
