Company also joins Eclipse Foundation for open source tooling and development of Eclipse ecosystem SpringSource, keeper of the Spring Framework, is announcing Monday the planned April release of the personal edition of SpringSource Tool Suite, a toolset intended to reduce complexity of enterprise Java development.The package also provides an end-to-end solution for middleware development using the Spring Portfolio of software, SpringSource said. In addition, the company is announcing it has joined the Eclipse Foundation for open source tooling.Built on the Eclipse Mylyn project, which provides a task-focused interface, the tools suite also has Spring IDE as a core component. Mylyn eases development of Spring-powered applications and incorporates features such as issue tracking and code quality analysis. Workflow capabilities are featured in the suite as well. “The combination of Java, declarative XML, AOP (aspect-oriented programming), and the advanced language mechanisms of the Spring Portfolio already dramatically reduces the complexity of enterprise Java development,” said Rod Johnson, founder and CEO of SpringSource, in a statement released by the company.The suite provides tool-guided assistance through tutorials and walk-throughs that integrate SpringSource training materials. Architecture Review Tools can be used to ensure best practices.Other features include Spring development tools for editing, validating, and navigating Spring application blueprints and runtime error analysis that adds explanations and solution suggestions for Java stack traces. With its participation in Eclipse, SpringSource will aid in development of the Eclipse ecosystem.“SpringSource currently demonstrates leadership in multiple Eclipse-based products such as the SpringSource Tool Suite, and we welcome their membership in the Eclipse Foundation,” said Eclipse executive director Mike Milinkovich in a statement released by SpringSource.The free, personal edition of the tools suite is due in beta this week, with a general release planned for April.
