Dr. Bill Curtis is known as the godfather of software quality. He’s an industry luminary and advocate of the psychological and behavioral processes of software development. He is renowned for his development of the Capability Maturity Model (CMM), which has become the global standard for evaluating the capability of software development organizations. He currently serves as the chief scientist at CAST and as the executive director of the Consortium for IT Software Quality (CISQ), an industry body co-founded by the Object Management Group (OMG) and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University.
Dr. Curtis is a former director at the Software Engineering Institute (SEI), and he managed research on software for GE’s space division. He was named a fellow by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for his contributions to software improvement and quality. He has taught statistics at the University of Washington and holds a Ph.D. from Texas Christian University, an M.A. from the University of Texas, and a B.A. from Eckerd College.
