Wired News and the Wired.com become Condé Nast properties Condé Nast Publications Inc. will reunite the print and online components of Wired magazine by purchasing Wired News from Lycos Inc. for US$25 million, Lycos said Tuesday.Wired News and the Wired.com domain will become Condé Nast properties. However, other parts of the original Wired Digital family, including the search engine Hotbot, the tutorial site Webmonkey, and the lifestyle search site Hotwired, will still be owned and operated by Lycos, the company said.Founded in 1993, Wired Magazine became popular for its outrageous graphic design and coverage of what would become the Internet revolution. However, the magazine failed to cash in on the boom of Internet company-related advertising, the way then-rivals such as The Industry Standard, Red Herring, and Business 2.0 did.
