China's TCL Computer will begin using AMD chips in its desktops, notebooks

China’s TCL Computer Tech. Co. has begun selling notebooks and desktop computers using Advanced Micro Devices processors, AMD said Thursday.

Desktops using AMD 64 processors are available immediately, with AMD 64 laptops due to hit the market in April.

The TCL deal marks AMD’s second win in China in as many weeks. Last week the company announced that Hedy Holding Co. would begin offering AMD chips in some desktops.

China’s top three computer manufacturers, Lenovo Group, Beijing Founder Electronics Co., and Tsinghua Tongfang Co., all offer computers with AMD microprocessors inside, with the latter two companies launching their AMD offerings last year.
