'No junk' online catalog lets you sort apps by more specific categories than the Apple store provides

Two new apps aimed at business travelers and several new tech and business news apps are among the latest additions to InfoWorld.com’s iPhone business apps catalog — an interactive listing of iPhone apps of use to professionals, businesses, and IT staff. The two travels apps are USPS Mobile, which helps you track packages and find Zip codes and post offices when on the go, and ETA, which helps you plan your route and estimate arrival when traveling in the U.S. and Canada by car or plane.

New news apps in the catalog include AOL’s TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog) and Engadget sites for gadget hounds, the highly respected U.K. news site The Guardian, and IDG’s ITNews for tech industry newsfeeds. The catalog also expands its selection of news apps aimed at business users and tech pros.

The “no junk” iPhone business apps finder contains more than 265 apps in 24 categories. InfoWorld’s editors regulaly update the apps finder with useful apps for professionals, businesses, and IT staff.

The online tool lets you sort apps by more specific categories than the Apple store provides, as well as by name, price, and release date. The service has no cost and is available at infoworld.com/iphone-apps. Users with a U.S. iTunes account can download apps to iTunes from the InfoWorld business app catalog; iTunes must be installed on your computer.

The catalog contains only iPhone apps deemed useful for business users and tech pros, excluding the bulk of the apps labeled “business” and “productivity” at the iTunes App Store, as many are not really business apps or are of dubious value.

InfoWorld’s editors will continue to add new apps and categories to the catalog as merited.
